Description:
This mansion was the home of an Irish born, but American entrenched revolutionary, General Edward Hand and remains a classic example of 18th century life. Historic Rock Ford Plantation, built in 1794, is Georgian in style and has a center hall. The home features a number of furnishings and artifacts from the time period. General Hand, reared in Ireland, came to America as a surgeon's assistant in the 18th Royal Irish Regiment. Upon retiring in 1774, he stayed in the colonies to practice medicine and then joined the Continental Army in 1775.
